FINAT, the International Labelers Association, presented the winners of LABELicious 2019 contest at Brussels, on 25th September. The contest has been announced in the occasion of FINAT’s 60th anniversary and it has been designed based on the needs of the future of Label industry. Its main aim was to gain the interest of the new generation of talented designers and technicians, in order to make a contribution to the development of the sector.
Alessia Guerra from Italy was the award of the “Design” category, while Lukas Debock and Niels Hyde from Belgium won the prizes on the “Smart label” and “Sustainability” categories respectively.
The jury judged in general the innovation and the open minded perception of the students and she appreciated a lot the capability of combining the classic design with the new technologies.
The challenges of the future for the new generation
While the industry is innovating, our need for a new generation of employees capable not only on traditional design, but also on the growing digital technology.
The last presentation of RADAR market by FINAT is setting new goals for the five priorities. The youths who answered are from countries from all over Europe.

Mr. Chriss Ellison, president of FINAT, said during its speech: “The attraction of the new generation of professionals needs a lot of efforts form our sector to be accomplished”.
The “LABELicious” contest
“LABELicious” contest invited youths specialized in the technical and design domain to be a part of the infinite world of packaging and Brand Management, in order to present their vision for the label of 2025 at the categories “Smart label”, “Design” and “Sustainability”.
Having almost 100 participations of new talents from 22 European countries, the organizers think that that the contest accomplished its goals.
During the awards ceremony, Mr. Jules Lejeune, managing director of FINAT, noted that label industries and Graphic Arts faculties in Spain, Greece and Belgium collaborated in an excellent way. He also stated: “This is a recipe for success and whatever we are going to say won’t be enough for us to thank all those collaborators of ours that helped us reach in this level of success and also helped the students to gain experience in the label industry”.
FINAT will evaluate the results of the contest in order to decide which its next activities will be, especially for the youths that will be involved with love and visions in the label industry, in combination with the contest and the new products.
The tree winners of “LABELicious” contest, apart from the prizes and the recognition, had also gain a week of professional experience, a kind offer of FINAT’s “Platinum Partners”, Avery Dennison, Gallus and HP.
